Still Getting Started
So, I told you in my first newsletter that I did a thorough review of 2024—the milestones that I am happy about and the things that I didn’t quite achieve. And every December I reevaluate the direction that I want to go and the steps to get there.
As you can tell from my last newsletter, I have been looking at some different YouTube videos to see if anyone is using a method that might be helpful.
Chase Hughes’ NCI System
Chase Hughes has a new video out on his YouTube channel (@chasehughesofficial) called “Crush 2025 with Brainwashing – Goal Setting Won’t Work.” Now Chase is an author and behavior expert with tons of experience, great books, and a great website.
He talks about setting habits and outcomes vs. goals. Check it out the steps below.
Step 1: Describe the perfect outcome that you want
Be detailed in your description. What specifically? When you want that outcome?
Make it measurable. How do you know when you have this outcome?
Step 2: Describe the undesired outcome that you don’t want
Be detailed about what happens if you don’t change
You need this high contrast
Step 3: Write down these 3 things that make accomplishing your goals a natural byproduct of doing them

New Beliefs
Step 4: Write down these 4 things that you would need to do to get the undesired outcome.

New Beliefs
Step 5: How will you maintain focus?
F = Focus
A = Authority
T = Tribe
E = Emotion
Example:
F = Focus – Vision board, slide show of goals, etc.
A = Authority – Leverage social proof
T = Tribe – Find a friend to be accountable to
E = Emotion – Attach the emotion of achieving your outcome to your future self
Step 6: Adopt 3 new habits that will help you achieve your perfect outcome
Step 7: Brainwash yourself
F = Focus
E = Emotion
A = Agitation, disruption, novelty
R = Repetition
Focus on your outcome with intense emotion daily. Agitation refers to disrupting your life or introducing novelty to your life. This lets you know that things are shifting! Repeat this process at least daily.
Step 8: Dopamine Map
Chart the way you get dopamine in a diagram like the one shown below. The idea is to see where you are so you can change to move positive options. The top section could represent where are and the bottom section is where can write more positive and useful places to get dopamine.
Closing Thoughts
When I saw this, I thought it was interesting. It is more about creating the habits that will make you better. These habits can also get you closer to business goals, personal goals, etc. I think the concepts are eye-opening and I thought you might enjoy watching the video and answering the questions for yourself.
